UPDATED COMMUTER RAIL SCHEDULES ON THE FAIRMOUNT, FRANKLIN/FOXBORO, AND PROVIDENCE/STOUGHTON LINES GO INTO EFFECT JANUARY 19 

Amtrak repair work completed after infrastructure fire 

January 13, 2026 (BOSTON, MA) – The MBTA and Keolis Commuter Services (Keolis), the T’s operations and maintenance partner for Commuter Rail, announced today that Amtrak has completed emergency infrastructure repairs after a fire at a signal bungalow on August 1, 2025. Updated schedules will go into effect on the Fairmount, Franklin/Foxboro, and Providence/Stoughton Lines on January 19. These schedules will restore the service levels that were in place prior to the fire. 

On the Fairmount Line: 

  • Regular Fairmount Line service will now operate according to the Fall/Winter schedule. 
  • Trains temporarily originating/terminating at Fairmount will be restored to Readville. 

On the Franklin/Foxboro Line: 

  • Shuttle buses will continue to provide mid-day service between Walpole and Foxboro as construction at Foxboro Station continues in preparation for the World Cup. However, buses will connect with different trains than they currently do. 
  • Trains 1725, 1731, 1732, 1739, 1740, and 1748 will be restored between South Station and Walpole, with connecting bus service to Foxboro provided to/from these trains.  
  • Train 1747 will now terminate at Walpole, and Train 1756 will now originate at Walpole. Shuttle buses will also connect with these trains for service to/from Foxboro. 
  • Weekday Franklin/Foxboro Line trains temporarily operating via the Fairmount Line will resume operating via Back Bay. 
  • Weekend Franklin/Foxboro Line trains temporarily operating via Hyde Park will resume operating via Fairmount. 

On the Providence/Stoughton Line: 

  • Weekday Providence/Stoughton Line trains that temporarily have an added stop at Readville will no longer stop at Readville. 
  • Outbound weekday Providence/Stoughton Line trains that stopped at Hyde Park prior to August 1 will resume doing so. Shuttle buses between Hyde Park and Readville will no longer operate. All outbound weekend Providence Line trains will have their Hyde Park stop restored.
