TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE IN EFFECT ON NEWBURYPORT/ROCKPORT COMMUTER RAIL LINE BEGINNING MARCH 30
Crews will replace roughly 14,000 railroad ties while some midday trips are suspended
March 24, 2026 (BOSTON, MA) – The MBTA and Keolis Commuter Services (Keolis), the T’s operations and maintenance partner for Commuter Rail, announced today that a temporary construction schedule on the Newburyport/Rockport Line will be in effect from March 30 until mid-May. Crews will replace roughly 14,000 railroad ties during this period to ensure continued safe and reliable service on the line.
Between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on weekdays, four inbound trains and four outbound trains will be temporarily suspended. Single track operations will also be in effect during this period, so boarding areas may change. Passengers should check station signage and mbta.com for details.
