MBTA AND KEOLIS WIN NEW ENGLAND EMMY FOR MARKETING CAMPAIGN

“TRACKed” highlights positive environmental impact of Commuter Rail

June 13, 2025 (BOSTON) – Keolis Commuter Services (Keolis), the MBTA’s operations and maintenance partner for the Commuter Rail, announced today that the 2024 TRACKed campaign has won a New England Emmy in the branded content category. Developed in partnership with the MBTA, the campaign showcases the positive impact the MBTA Commuter Rail and the collective impact riders have on the communities the train serves.

TRACKed offers a data-driven look at the year on Commuter Rail. During 2024, passengers saved 400 million pounds of carbon emissions by taking the train, which is the equivalent of planting over 20 million mature trees. Passengers took 28.5 million rides over 4.32 million miles.

“We are proud that the return of ridership on our Commuter Rail continues to strongly demonstrate that all the levels of service being delivered is allowing the public to choose from more trips and more convenience, which benefits our riders and benefits the environment when riders leave the driving to us – all highlighted in the TRACKed campaign, chosen for a 2025 New England Emmy for ‘Best Branded Content,’” said MBTA General Manager and CEO Phillip Eng. “The TRACKed campaign exemplifies the many reasons that traveling on transit is the premier choice for the public, and I’m proud to see our operating partners at Keolis recognized for a campaign that highlights our commitment to riders so prominently. From regular commutes to riding to shows and events to traveling to fun activities on weekends, our riders left their cars at home and entrusted the MBTA to get them where they needed to go – reducing traffic and the hundreds of millions of pounds of carbon emissions, protecting our residents and communities. Congratulations to Keolis for creative messaging and for winning this award.”

“TRACKed celebrates the ways that taking the Commuter Rail makes life better: from reducing pollution to giving riders a moment to just relax,” said Keolis General Manager and CEO Abdellah Chajai. “We are honored to have received this special recognition, and proud not only of the great campaign, but of all of the great things about the Commuter Rail that it highlights.”

The campaign was developed with Boston-based creative agency GYK. More details and the full video can be found on the MassbyTrain website, designed by Sperling Interactive.
