Keolis’ US Transit Achieves an 8% Year-Over-Year Safety Improvement in 2025

Keolis in North America Recognizes Top-Performing US Transit Locations in Corporate Safety Competition

Boston, MA – Keolis in North America today announced strong portfolio-wide safety results across all US Transit locations, highlighted by an 8% total year-over-year improvement in safety performance for the organization.

The company recently completed a new national safety competition, Safety in Motion, which resulted in operations achieving a 7% improvement compared to the previous quarter and a 21% improvement compared to the same quarter last year. This underscores Keolis’ culture of safety-first, strong operational discipline, and a commitment to continuous improvement in safety performance.

In 2025, Keolis launched an internal US Transit safety competition designed to reinforce best practices, encourage peer learning, and celebrate frontline teams driving measurable results across safety metrics. The competition also evaluated maintenance performance with a direct impact on safety. The following locations were recognized as the top performers in their categories:

  • Capital Metro in Austin, TX
  • Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Fort Lauderdale, FL
  • Loudoun County in Leesburg, Virginia
  • Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission (PRTC) in Woodbridge, Virginia
  • RTC Washoe in Reno, Nevada
  • North Lost Angeles County Regional Center (NLACRC) in Chatsworth, CA
  • Victor Valley Transportation Authority in Hesperia, CA

These locations demonstrated outstanding performance in reducing preventable incidents, strengthening safety reporting culture, improving training participation, and implementing proactive risk mitigation strategies.

“Our teams across the country have shown that safety excellence is built through consistency, accountability, and collaboration,” said Fadi Chakbazof, president and chief operating officer of US Transit. “An 8% year-over-year improvement across the portfolio and a 21% improvement compared to the same quarter last year reflects the deep commitment of our frontline and local leadership teams.”

Keolis remains committed to continuous improvement and delivering safe, reliable mobility for the communities it serves. By combining strong local leadership with the scale and expertise of a global transit operator, the company continues to advance a culture where safety is the foundation of operational excellence.
