KEOLIS TO PROCURE NEW ROLLING STOCK FOR MBTA COMMUTER RAIL

Request for proposals for Battery-Electric Multiple Units to be released in December

October 1, 2024 (BOSTON) – Keolis Commuter Services, the operating partner for the MBTA’s Commuter Rail system, has announced that it will be releasing a request for proposals to procure new rolling stock.

Keolis is leading the procurement of a certain type of new rolling stock for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) Commuter Rail system. The rolling stock we are seeking will be modern multiple unit type configuration capable of operating under the overhead catenary system and via use of on-board batteries as well.

We estimate that an RFP will be released in December 2024. In parallel with the rolling stock procurement process, Keolis will also be issuing an RFP seeking proposals from financial institutions for the purchase and lease of the rolling stock.
