BOSTON February 25, 2026  Keolis in North America (Keolis) announces a new contract with the Nantucket Regional Transit Authority (NRTA) to manage and operate the island’s public transportation services. This multi-year contract will deliver fixed-route bus, paratransit, and on-demand services to the island of Nantucket, Massachusetts.

Under the agreement which begins March 1, 2026, Keolis will oversee the daily management and operation of the NRTA’s system. Currently, the agency operates twenty-three (23) vehicles with approximately 33% of the fleet being electric. Keolis was selected to assist the agency in enhancing the Island’s character and providing new economic opportunities for the community.

Regional Transit Authorities are a critical piece of the transportation network in Massachusetts, and the NRTA system is a lifeline for visitors and residents of Nantucket. The agency connects residents and visitors with jobs, essential services, and entertainment throughout the year.

Keolis will bring its global expertise and local knowledge to support NRTA’s goals for service reliability, fleet performance, and community engagement. The company will partner with NRTA to provide efficient and environmentally responsible mobility solutions for the Nantucket community.

In Massachusetts, Keolis also partners with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) to operate and maintain the Commuter Rail service and parking facilities along with the Metro West Regional Transit Authority to provide fixed-route bus and on-demand services. Building on Keolis’ service record across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the NRTA contract award recognizes Keolis’ understanding of operational requirements and ability to deliver high-quality service for passengers, coupled with the company’s commitment to safety, performance management, comprehensive training, and customer satisfaction.

“We are proud to be selected by the NRTA to manage and deliver safe, reliable, and accessible transportation for the Nantucket community,” said Fadi Chakbazof, president and Chief Operating Officer for US Transit. “These services are vital for the Island’s economy, and we look forward to supporting the NRTA’s goals for a sustainable and innovative transit system.”
