COMMUTER RAIL SERVICE TO RETURN TO HAVERHILL STATION JUNE 30
South Elm Street Bridge project has been completed
June 25, 2025 (BOSTON, MA) – Keolis Commuter Services (Keolis), the MBTA’s operations and maintenance partner for Commuter Rail, announced that Haverhill Station will fully open on Monday, June 30 for regular train service. Shuttle vans that were in service between Haverhill and Bradford Station while crews replaced the South Elm Street Bridge will no longer be utilized.
The MBTA used accelerated bridge construction techniques to reduce customer and traffic impacts while replacing the nearly-120-year-old bridge with a modern single-span structure. The new structure includes a ballasted steel deck, which means a smoother ride for passengers. The MBTA also performed roadway, sidewalk, and drainage improvements along South Elm Street.
An updated schedule will be available soon at mbta.com/cr.
